To Our Respected Clients and Team Members,
As our communities continue to feel the increased impact of Coronavirus, we feel it is important to share with you what we are doing to help keep you safe and healthy. Please be assured we have protocols in place and are working with the CDC and local state behavioral health officials to ensure you are able to continue to receive therapeutic services at the highest level possible with no disruptions.
At this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to your sessions and/or groups and are prepared to deliver an increase in services as it is very important we continue to be available during this tumultuous time for our country.
At 1st Priority Institute for Better Living, we strive to take great care of the clients and community in which we serve. We have plans for both individual sessions and groups:
As part of our protocols, we are happy to offer remote sessions for anyone who requests them. This will allow you to take full advantage of your session from anywhere outside of our office. We do this in two ways: 1) Teleconferencing through HIPPA compliant software similar to Skype or 2) Teletherapy though phone sessions. If you would like to elect either of these options for one or all your sessions, please let your clinician know and they will easily get this set up for you.
As many of you know, DUI/DWAI groups are mandated by the state in curriculum, delivery, content, and time. At this point, we are directed to follow OBH rule. By OBH rule, Criminal Justice, DUI and CYMHTA programs must deliver services face-to-face in the same room. This may change on the state level as we continue to see this pandemic evolve, but for now each client must still attend group to gain credit for the week and the attendance policy is still in effect meaning you will still be financially responsible for any absences. If this changes, we will contact you via text or email. Also the website with have up to date information at all times.
Of course. we do not wish anyone to attend group who may feel this will threaten their health or well-being. That being said, anyone who does not want to attend group may immediately discharge or be placed on hold to avoid incurring any charges for absences until which time OBH rule changes or they again feel safe to return. The re-enrollment fee for anyone electing to discharge will be waived upon return.
Additionally, we recognize this is a time of high anxiety, stress, and adjustment for our country and for many of us as individuals. Please speak with your therapist and or myself about these issues and increase your support during this time if needed. The research agrees seeking help in advance of feeling overwhelmed lends the best prognosis.
As the situation evolves, we may implement additional preventative measures to ensure client and team well-being, however actions we have taken over the past several years have helped us prepare for scenarios like this. Throughout this process, we have been continuously refining and implementing training and new technology to enable us to continue to offer therapeutic sessions at the highest level possible.
Thank you in advance for your patience as we navigate this challenging situation one day at a time and determine how best to continue serving our clients, while maintaining our focus where it belongs: on the well-being of our clients, team members, and community. Please feel free to contact your therapist or myself directly to further clarify any of our protocols.
All updates will be posted on the website and posted in our office as soon as possible.

"My first impression is how pleased I am that I chose 1st Priority for my DUI classes. I believe I was like most, and had a myriad of questions about my situation and I had an insatiable thirst for answers that selfishly pertained to my situation. I was able to quickly develop a rapport with therapists and group members of 1st Priority who provided an ample amount of information that was both practical and pointed"
Karl, Arvada, Colorado
